Pre Preservation Flower Care

It is important that the person who will be packing the bouquet for the courier read this.

We recommend you print this page and give it to the person who will be packing the bouquet. It is vital that you contact us before 11.30 am Monday (for those who haven’t pre booked) after the wedding so we can organise the courier to pick up the bouquet.

First step in caring for your bouquet is to identify the construction style you have. If you call your florist they can tell you if you have a bouquet that is either a natural stem bouquet, a bridie bouquet (in green floral foam drinking water with a white handle) or fully wired bouquet. Once you identify the style of the bouquet you can then read the packing instructions for the courier. All bouquets require a deposit of $150.00 either before the bouquet arrives or with the bouquet. This deposit is none refundable and will be subtracted from the price of the completed framed bouquet. The framed bouquet must be paid for before the framed bouquet leaves our premises.

Do not at any time place your bouquet in a household or commercial refrigerator.

Packing Bouquet For Courier

Before the day, find out the estimated size of your bouquet and get a box a little bigger.

You may also need tissue paper, 2 plastic bags, cotton wool, elastic bands, spray bottle, wide sticky tape and a marker. The better condition the bouquet is in when we receive it, the better the result will be when you get it back.

Natural Stem Bouquet

  • As soon as you receive your flowers from the florist, recut the stems and place in water.

  • Instead of lying your flowers down at any time, hand them to a bridesmaid to hold. You don't want to bruise any flowers around the edge.

  • Do not leave them in the car at any stage.

  • Recut stems and place in water when you reach the reception.

  • Keep the bouquet in a cool place like a garage or laundry.

Packing a Natural Stem Bouquet

  • Recut stems

  • Wet cotton wool and place on the bottom of the stems.

  • Place stems in both plastic bags and secure with elastic bands.

  • Pack the tissue around the edge of the bouquet in the box so it will not move, trying not to bruise the flowers.

  • Lay 3 pieces of tissue paper over the flower heads and spray with water. (DO NOT WET THE FLOWERS DIRECTLY).

  • Put a note in the box with the bride’s name, address, home phone, work phone, mobile and email address.

  • Tape up the box and write on the side "TOP LOAD ONLY", "THIS WAY UP" and have arrows pointing up. Now you need to address it to Janelle Keogh’s Floral Designs, 2 Merrick Close, Kelso Bathurst NSW 2795.

Our courier will pick up your bouquet from between 12.00 - 6.00 pm.

Bridie Bouquet

This bouquet has been constructed so the flowers can constantly drink through-out the day.

  • Instead of laying your flowers down at any time, hand them to a bridesmaid to hold. You don't want to bruise any flowers around the edge.

  • Do not leave them in the car at any stage.

  • You do not need to water this bouquet until the day after the wedding.

  • Place in a vase so the blooms around the edge do not get bruised.

  • Keep the bouquet in a cool place like a garage or laundry.

Packing a Bridie Bouquet

You will need to water this bouquet. Either do this over the bath or over the grass. With a watering can, water the centre of the bouquet without getting the flowers heads wet, only the green floral foam. The water will flow over your hands this is fine.

  • Pack the tissue around the edge of the bouquet in the box so it will not move, trying not to bruise the flowers.

  • Lay 3 pieces of tissue paper over the flower heads and spray with water (DO NOT WET THE FLOWERS DIRECTLY).

Our courier will pick up your bouquet from between 12.00 pm - 6.00 pm.

Fully Wired Bouquet

This style of bouquet is very traditional. The easiest way to identify the type of bouquet is to look at the back of the bouquet and see if you can see green wires instead of stems. There isn't much you can do to care for them yourself, except instead of laying your flowers down at any time, hand them to a bridesmaid to hold. You don't want to bruise any flowers around the edge.

  • Do not leave them in the car at any stage.

  • Place in a vase so the blooms around the edge do not get bruised.

  • Keep the bouquet in a cool place like a garage or laundry.

Packing a Fully Wired Bouquet

This bouquet can't be watered so all you can do is pack it for delivery.

  • Pack the tissue around the edge of the bouquet in the box so it will not move trying not to bruise the flowers.

  • Lay 3 pieces of tissue paper over the flower heads and spray with water (DO NOT WET THE FLOWERS DIRECTLY).

Our courier will pick up your bouquet from between 12.00 pm - 6.00 pm.

DO NOT under any circumstances put your flowers in the fridge. That will turn most flowers transparent because household fridges are to cold.

Flowers that do not preserve well. Alstroemeria and some tropical.

Before you book-in your bouquet, call to confirm that they can be preserved.
